Since September 1, 2019, Prof. Dr. Heyo Kroemer is CEO of the Charitè – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Prof. Dr. Kroemer studied pharmacy at the TU Braunschweig (GER) from 1978 to 1983. In 1992, he completed his habilitation in pharmacology and toxicology at the Eberhard-Karls-University in Tübingen. In 1998, he was appointed to the chair of General Pharmacology at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-University of Greifswald. From 2000 to 2012, Heyo Kroemer became Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Greifswald. Afterwards he served as Dean, board member for research and teaching and the spokesman of the University Medical Centre at the University in Göttingen until 2019. In 2018, he was elected as a member of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina. He is a member of numerous committees in the science system. From 2007, Kroemer was a board member of the Medical Faculty Association and from 2012 to 2019, he became the president of the Medical Faculty Association. From 2007 until 2019 he was member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Medical Association, where he was elected to the Board in 2017. Since 2020, he has been a board member of the Association of University Hospitals in Germany.
