Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Harald Schmitz began his professional career in auditing after studying business administration. He then worked as a consultant in the healthcare and social economy: First as managing partner of GEBERA GmbH, Cologne/Düsseldorf, then as partner of the auditing company Deloitte & Touche, Düsseldorf. The last few years before his move to the Bank für Sozialwirtschaft AG in June 2012, he was drawn to the operational area as a member of the holding management of the Marienhaus Group Waldbreitbach, at the time the largest Catholic institution provider in Germany. He is a lecturer and honorary professor at the University of Cologne. Since July 1, 2014, Prof. Dr. Harald Schmitz has been Chairman of the Bank für Sozialwirtschaft AG.
