We welcome Kiso Health as a new member of our Flying Health ecosystem

Schizophrenia is one of the most highly stigmatized and misunderstood conditions. Society often reduces the illness to “crisis” or “dangerousness,” yet the decisive phase of care is frequently not the acute episode, but the weeks in between: when structure is missing, symptoms begin to intensify again, and no one is present to support daily life.

These facts speak for themselves:

  • Around 800,000 people in Germany live with a diagnosis of schizophrenia.
  • Treatment guidelines recommend outpatient psychotherapy with the highest level of evidence.
  • Only about 1% of those affected actually receive psychotherapy; the rest are limited to pharmacological treatment.
  • As a result, treatment often consists of a 15-minute physician appointment per quarter, without therapeutic structure between visits.

The consequences:

  • Frequent relapses, chronification, hospitalizations, and high societal costs.
  • Schizophrenia is the most expensive mental disorder in terms of per-capita costs.

This is precisely the gap addressed by a new member of our ecosystem:

Welcome, Kiso Health!

Kiso Health is a spin-off of Charité that brings digital therapy and support solutions for complex mental disorders – particularly schizophrenia – into routine care.

What Kiso does specifically:
The Kiso Mind application was developed together with more than 50 individuals with lived experience and delivers therapeutic content to where care often ends today: everyday life, including:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy exercises and psychoeducatio
  • Mood and symptom tracking
  • Medication reminders, crisis and emergency contacts
  • Adaptive, data-driven content that can adjust to individual patterns and needs
  •

Where Kiso stands today:
Kiso Mind is approved as a medical device, is being piloted in clinical settings, and is working toward reimbursement and integration into standard care.
